COMMERCE, California — LFA capped a busy and exciting 2024 schedule that saw the promotion host 25 events across two continents. In the year-end event, southern California’s own Richie “El Machete” Miranda and top Chilean prospect Hugo “La Maquina” Oyarzún squared off in the main event of LFA 198. The local favorite used a well-rounded attack to secure takedowns, dominant grappling positions, and timely striking to secure the convincing win against his South American adversary Oyarzún via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27). In the co-main event, the “BJJ Lady GOAT” Bia Mesquita continued her seamless transition to MMA. The 10x IBJJF black belt world champion and IBJJF Hall of Fame member submitted Judo black belt and fellow Brazilian fighter Fernanda “Ferocious” Araujo via Rear Naked Choke at 4:21 of Round 2.
