SANTA CRUZ, California — On Thursday, March 7th, LFA hosted the weigh-in for LFA 178: Satybaldiev vs. Assis from the Courtyard by Marriott in Santa Cruz, California. The main event will feature an Interim Light-Heavyweight Title Fight between Kyrgyz National Sambo champion Uran “Gorilla” Satybaldiev (6-1) and BJJ, Judo, and Karate black belt Bruno “Brunão” Assis (13-6).
LFA 178 will feature veteran MMA commentator Ron Kruck, who will be joined in the booth by former UFC star and Strikeforce champion Gilbert “El Niño” Melendez. The Brazilian-Portuguese commentary team will consist of iconic Brazilian media personality Jorge “Joinha” Guimarães and Brazilian MMA analyst Max Soares. They will call the action live from Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, California. The main card will be available tomorrow night LIVE on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
Every fighter, except Israel Delgado and James Guidry, made their contracted weights when they stepped on the scale. They will now forfeit a portion of their purses to their opponents. LFA 178 will proceed with eleven bouts, which includes the Interim Light-Heavyweight Championship at the top of the card.
